Dance Captain Responsibilities
Set-Up
As soon as the teacher dismisses the previous class, go in the room and set up.
Set out shapes.
Set out props.
Ask the teacher if they need anything else done.
Sit on a shape in the circle and wait.
Greet dancers as they come in.
Encourage dancers to sit on shapes.
During Class
Learn the dances as quickly as you can (especially the recital dance).
Get out and put away props as the teacher needs.
For Spotlight, lay out the red carpet and turn on the feature lights.
Clean-Up
After Spotlight, turn on regular lights and put away the red carpet.
Put away all shapes and props.
Say goodbye to the teacher before you leave the room.
General
Learn the dancer’s names.
Always model excellent behavior. Dance full out and smile.
Keep your hands to yourself unless it is to hold the hand of a dancer, high five a dancer, etc.
If a dancer needs to use the restroom, escort them to their parent. If there is no parent, then take them to the restroom and take dancer back to class.
